Open Houses
The next open house weekend is
November 30 & December 1, 2024.
We are open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM each day.
The MLRRC normally holds two open house weekends each year. One on a weekend that varies in April (usually, but not always, the first weekend) and the other always on the weekend immediately following Thanksgiving.
Visitors will see a large exhibition of toy trains running on our layouts, often from different eras and different scales and gauges. The main layout in our 3000 square foot facility includes interactive buttons allowing visitors to operate over a dozen animated scenes. The walls of our club feature displays of vintage engines, rolling stock, and related toy train and railroad memorabilia some of which date back over 100 years.
There is also a separate interactive postwar toy train operating accessory display, and two children’s layouts where kids can try their hand at train operation.
A $2.00 donation per person over 12 years old is appreciated. U.S. veterans are admitted free as are the parents or guardians of scouts in uniform. Children 12 and under are also admitted free when continuously accompanied by a responsible adult. You can download a printable open house (and swap meet) flyer here. Share a few with your friends.
The club is also open to the public during our regular operating hours which are posted on the home page. The amount of toy train of activity during regular hours varies widely and the special displays are not normally in operation as they are during open houses.
